Walk-in Bathtub

Walk-in Bathtub

Walk-in Bathtub

This is an example of a good walk-in bathtub design.  Notice the inward swinging door.  Walk-in tubs with outward swinging doors almost always end up leaking.  The ones that are leak-proof tend to be nearly impossible to latch/unlatch, especially for a senior citizen or disabled person, who these tubs are designed for.

This tub also includes air jets (the smaller jets) and water jets (larger jets).  All of the jets are designed to massage the bathers back.  It is important that a walk-in tub fills and drains rapidly, because the user will be in the tub during these processes.

If you have difficulty bathing, or have a disabled or elderly relative who you are responsible for, consider a walk-in bathtub. It is a rarely household fixture that truly increases quality of life.

Kohler Bathtubs

This is our best effort to put together a complete summary of the Kohler line of bathtubs.

Kohler manufactures almost everything for the bathtub – steam generators, vanities, custom showers – but the focus of this article, given the nature of the site, is the bathtubs made by Kohler.
This topic alone is exhausting as Kohler has a huge selection of bathtubs.

Kohler has two broad Categories of Tubs:

1) Baths
2) Whirlpools & Air Baths

We’ll start with the whirlpools and air baths, because the category is smaller and easier to break down.  Whirlpools are bathtubs with water jets,
while air baths are tubs with air jets.  In general, water jets offer more of a deep tissue massage because the force of the water is so great.

Kohler whirlpool tubs allow only the usage of bath salts, while their air baths allow bath salts and bath oils.  All of their air baths blow hot air, while an inline heater is an optional upgrade for the whirlpool tubs.  Kohler tubs come standard with a one year limited warranty.  Gathering information from Kohlers website can be incredibly difficult, and often the site is factually wrong; in one place it lists the Sok Overflowing bath at 45 x 25, and in another spot it lists it at 75 x 41.  Most Kohler tubs are available only in white and biscuit (biscuit costs extra), but some are available in a wide variety of colors.  Their site is overwhelming, so we’ve attempted to simplify the information for you.
